At the end of August, the EU Commission released the draft act for the new Ecodesign rules on smartphones and tablets<\/a>, which will determine how our devices are designed, and how sustainable they are. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we highlighted in our post last week<\/a>, this act contains rules that range from good, to bad, to ugly. The Right to Repair campaign has analysed the proposals and has ranked them from best to worst in the report below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the measures are adopted, a feedback period is open until 28 September<\/strong> to get your opinion<\/strong> on the proposals. With the environmental and socio-economic impact of short-lived phones and tablets growing everyday, it is important that we demand strict rules to make our devices as durable and repairable as possible and take back ownership of our stuff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
