Just weeks before new EU repair rules for smartphones were set to take effect, we learned that the European Commission has proposed a \u201ccorrective legislative act\u201d that would weaken<\/em> your right to repair.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201ccorrective act\u201d would effectively scrap the requirement for user-replaceable displays \u2014 the very parts most likely to break. This would mean consumers could buy<\/em> spare screens, but not be allowed to install them themselves.<\/strong> It\u2019s an industry-friendly decision that maintains the status quo and flies in the face of sustainability and common sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve already submitted official feedback<\/strong><\/a> and are pushing hard to keep provisions on user-replaceable displays \u2014 but we need your help to keep going. The outcome will be decided between now and mid-June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
