Towards a Threshold for “Reasonable Price” of Spare Parts

The Right to Repair Europe coalition argues for a proportional threshold to define “reasonable prices” of spare parts. The adopted Right to Repair Directive, in fact, does not define reasonable pricing, but there is evidence that a threshold exists beyond which consumers are deterred from repairing and tend to replace their broken products. We want to see this reflected in upcoming ecodesign and energy labelling legislation, including in future repairability scores.
